The HCC1187 breast cancer cell line was derived from the primary breast ductal carcinoma of a 41 year old Caucasian female. This cell is ER and HER2 negative and is thus a triple negative line classified as a Basal Type A line. The STR profile for this cell line along with links to other genomics resources for these cells can be found at Cellosaurus, at COSMIC, and at DepMap portal.
Oncogene Signature: As for most triple negative cell lines of the Basal A lineage, the oncogene signature for this line is pretty basic and consists mainly of a TP53 mutation that results in overexpression of TP53 at the message level. The cells also exhibit amplifications of the two genes that regulate programmed cell death including BCL9 and MCL1, though neither gene were considered to be hits in the RNAi screen. Nevertheless, since both of these genes code for druggable targets, and since both genes had CERES scores that put them close to the cut point for essentiality in the RNAi screen, it is worth considering both of these genes as possible functional-druggable targets.
