The SKBR3 breast cancer cell line

The SKBR3 breast cancer cell line is an ER-negative, HER2 positive breast cancer cell line that was derived from the pleural effusion metastasis of a 43 year old Caucasian female previously diagnosed with breast adenocarcinoma.  By molecular profiling, this cell line was classified at belonging to the HER2 amplification subtype.  NOTE THAT THIS CELL LINE WAS DERIVED FROM THE SAME PATIENT AS AU565 AND MAY BE THE SAME CELL LINE.  The STR profile along with other genomic data and information pertinent to this cell line can  be found here at Cellosaurus, or here at DepMap portal.

Oncogene Signature:  The Oncogene Signature below shows the high level amplification and overexpression of ERBB2 (HER2) in this cell line and that the gene was a strong hit in the CRISPR screen.  In addition, both CDK12 and RARA were amplified and overexpressed and were also screen hits.  This cell line also harbors a common mutation in TP53.   Other low level amplifications of candidate oncogenes in this cell line were not found to be essential in the CRISPR screen.  Finally, according to Expasy. org this cell line has a homozygous deletion of CDH1.
