The HCC1806 breast cancer cell line was derived from the primary tumor of a 60 year old African American woman. The primary tumor was diagnosed at a Squamous cell breast carcinoma, acantholytic variant. The cell line is ER-negative and HER2 negative, and has been classified as a Basal A type breast cancer. HCC1806 drug sensitivities. Since this cell line is a Basal A triple negative cell line, it is not surprising that there are no Tier 1 targeted drugs for this cell line. As is the case for several other Basal type breast cancer cell lines, there are drug sensitivities in both the Tier 2 and Tier 3 lists that target cell cycle genes, some of which were found to be essential in the screen. And, yet again, according to the GDSC1 data set but not the GDSC2 data set, the cells are highly sensitive to two different drugs that target the WNT pathway gene PORCN, which is intriguing to say the least.
